The famed creator of upcoming action game Death Stranding, Hideo Kojima, officially revealed the final cover art for the high-profile November release in a panel at San Diego Comic-Con.
Unsurprisingly, the cover art of the PlayStation exclusive features Sam Bridges, the game’s protagonist, who is played by American actor Norman Reedus of Walking Dead and Boondock Saints fame.
The box art reveals the instantly-recognizable Norman Reedus covered by some sort of hooded suit. Overlaying the character is the game’s title, with eight letters dripping down in thread-line fashion.
As an added bonus, Kojima also revealed the artwork for the SteelBook edition of Death Stranding.
The latter version is a bit grimmer and grittier, with Reedus’ character splattered with mud or some other dark substance and the same logo with the dripping letters. His head is also uncovered.
The SteelBook will be available in two editions of the game:
- A Special Edition, which will cost $69.99.
- A Collector’s Edition, which will cost a substantial $199.99.

Death Stranding has generated a lot of buzz since it was first announced at E3 2016.
It will be the first game from famed Metal Gear Solid creator Hideo Kojima since his studio, Kojima Productions, parted ways somewhat unceremoniously with Konami the year before Death Stranding was revealed.
The breakup between Kojima and Konami notably resulted in the canceling of Silent Hells — which also starred Reedus — and the removal of the game’s famous playable teaser, P.T., from the PlayStation store.
By all accounts, Death Strandings look promising — to say the least. You can check out the release date reveal trailer below:
